Kitchen remodel - window replacement

We’ve been working on remodeling our kitchen for several weeks now, don’t know if I posted these before, but this was part of the first phase of the work. We had an area of the ceiling that was lower than the rest with fluorescent lights up behind some frosted plastic panes, which was standard in a lot of kitchens built the same time as ours. We pulled that whole area down and installed can lights in the ceiling to get back that foot of height (you can see the area around the top of the wall in this photo). Pulled out some cabinets (the white areas) and are about to pull out the sink. The door on the far left leads to the dining room, and we just covered that over with drywall, and the opening was a door into the laundry area, with the door to the small bathroom visible. B never liked looking into the bathroom from the kitchen, so we moved that door around to another wall. The old window was four feet wide.

The new window is eight feet wide.

Last weekend we ended up putting in all the new cabinets, I’ll post photos of those later.

Amazing! This blog looks just like my old one! It's on a totally different topic but it has pretty much the same layout and design. Superb choice of colors!

I like watching your kitchen remodel. Just this week we started one of our own. The object is to lighten up the kitchen by replacing the countertops and painting some (by not all) of the wood trim. We are also replacing the 30 year old stove and d/w. Kinda fun but cha ching cha ching!

Big windows always make a big difference in the overall ambiance of the house. You can save up on electricity because they can provide you with enough light in the morning and can also provide you a good view at your yard come nightfall. I bet you're happy with your new window. Congratulations!

I saw the cabinets in the other post, but not how the whole kitchen turned out? How is it? Did you replace those counter tops? Did you repaint the walls? It looks white on the other post. I know it's been months, but perhaps you could still share photos and tips about the renovation experience. Arthur

Wow! Nice kitchen remodeling. I like how you design your kitchen. After moving the cabinets and replacing window making it wide it looks good in the eye. Keep it up! I was having fun reading your blog and amazed of what you had done. :)
