Visitors

We were cleaning out the garage last weekend and came across three of these guys.

About an inch long, but not something we have seen in the ten years we've been here. B doesn't appreciate their arrival, and our bug man says they ignore most insecticides. Oh well, looks like it will be more frequent cleanups and searches.

Be fair, they were in Vegas before the mob showed up and discovered tourist money!

According to some web sources (yea, really accurate web sources) the scorpion is not native to Las Vegas but they came in on vegetation from Arizona.

It all depends on where you live in Tucson... I, so lucky, lucky, lucky live in the foothills of the Catalina mountain where every critter is trying to get in my home and I am determined to keep them out. I have a home and a small fenced yard that I have sprayed and it does help somewhat. The rest of the land I keep wild. But I still get a few every year that I kill, They do seem drugged and I like that.
I have Javelina, Mountain Lions, Bobcats Fox, Coyote, Snakes, Gila Monsters.... Wolf Spiders, scorpions and the dreaded pack rat !

So anything I have folded or not touched for sometime gets kicked or shaken out first.

Love your pool,

cheers, parsnip

So glad we don't have those here!

Parsnip, your surrounds sound ... exciting.

The biggest thing I get in my house/garden are huntsman spiders.

Oh, and angry bears (MOTH) attacking the trees occasionally. :)

Back in the early 70s I was living in Corrales, New Mexico (1000 people, 2000 dogs, 3000 registered horses..)

And that was my first experience with those little guys. I went to the bathroom in the wee hours of the morning and luckily turned on the light. It was on the floor by the stool.

No one ever claimed to be stung by one. I'm curious --- do you know anyone that has been stung?

we actually do get these here in Australia. In fact, a friend found on while doing work on her property just south of Gladstone. However, I have not heard of any reports of stings etc, and they are not usually seen so hopefully they don't make a sudden appearance!

Do they tend to run and hide when folk show up, or are they in-your-face critters?
